ErC 6864
General Knowledge and Inspection
The ErC 6864 is the most common issue seen on the Bullet. This error appears when the IBTS Fan is not running at the designated RPM, specifically under 12,000 RPM. When this happens, the Bullet cuts the Power to P0 to avoid damaging the IBTS Module.
You can check the IBTS Fan RPM through the Info Panel on RoasTime:
Connect the Bullet to RoasTime.
Go to Active Roast and click the 'i' icon on the top right.
Check the readings labeled 'IR Fan RPM'.
TipThe IBTS Fan runs at around 16,000 RPM at the maximum at all times.
Troubleshooting
While the ErC 6864 generally means that the IBTS Fan is running below the designated RPM, the following list describes the potential causes for such issue:
- The IBTS Cable has obstructed the IBTS Fan.
- The IBTS Cable/IBTS Fan Cable is having a connection issue.
- The IBTS Module is overheating.
- The IBTS Fan is reaching its end of life.
Obstructed IBTS Fan
If the ErC 6864 shows up right after maintenance, follow the IBTS Fan Replacement Guide to disassemble the Control Housing and check the IBTS Cable; it may have obstructed the fan.
- Remove the Acrylic Panel (H2) and Control PCB Module (Philips).
- Disconnect the cables from the Control PCB Module.
- Gently pull the IBTS Cable to see if it's crimped between the Control Housing and IBTS Fan.
- Disassemble the Control Housing (H2.5) and reseat the IBTS Cable.
- Re-assemble everything.
Connection Issue
In certain cases, the IBTS Module can have connection issues, if:
- The IBTS Cable/Connector has worn out or broken.
- The IBTS Connector Pin(s) is bent.
- The IBTS Cable has physically disconnected from the IBTS Module.
Follow the IBTS Fan Replacement Guide to access the IBTS Cable and its connectors.
- Gently pull the IBTS Cable on both ends to see if it disconnects easily.
- Unplug the IBTS Cable from both ends and check if the connector is dirty or if the pins are bent.
- Clean the dirt from the connectors if they are dirty.
- Bend the pins back to their original position (if possible).
- Re-assemble everything and check if the issue goes away.
If the IBTS Cable disconnects easily from the connectors, replace the IBTS Cable. If the pins on connector has bent or broken, replace the Control PCB Module or IBTS Module. If the IBTS Cable and connector are fine, replace the IBTS Fan.
Potential Overheating Issue
The ErC 6864 can show up when the Bullet is overheating, especially during roasting. If you suspect the Bullet is overheating, follow the steps below to run a quick maintenance and checkup:
- Clean the IBTS Lens.
- Clean the Chaff Filter.
- Disassemble the Control Housing and clean the IBTS Fan.
- Follow the IBTS Installation Guide and check the IBTS Module alignment.
If the issue persists, replace the IBTS Fan.
Reaching End of Life
If you have been able to get the IBTS Fan back to running after a quick cleanup, but the IBTS Fan eventually stops working altogether, the IBTS Fan is reaching its end of life and requires a replacement. Reach out to your reseller or contact [email protected] to get the replacement, and follow the replacement guide to replace the IBTS Fan.
